Derrick Odhiambo Wins Student Mixologist of the Year at ‘Ladha za Africa’ Awards

In a dazzling ceremony today, the ‘Ladha za Africa’ Awards celebrated outstanding achievements in hospitality education. Derrick Odhiambo, a talented trainee from the Hospitality and Institutional Management department at the Eldoret National Polytechnic, was honored with the prestigious title of Student Mixologist of the Year, earning a full scholarship to further his studies at Boma Hotel International College (BHIC).

Odhiambo’s innovative approach to mixology, which blended creativity with cultural influences, captivated the panel of judges. His signature cocktail, inspired by African flavors, emerged as a standout highlight of the competition.

In addition to Odhiambo’s achievement, Mr. Albert Odula, a dedicated trainer in the same department, received the Best Faculty Mentor Award. His commitment to nurturing student talent and fostering a supportive learning environment has made a significant impact on the college community.

The event brought together students, faculty, and industry professionals, celebrating excellence and innovation in hospitality. Both Odhiambo and Odula’s accomplishments underscore the college’s commitment to developing skilled professionals in the hospitality sector.
