DG Barorot Leads the City Transport Citizen FORA
The Deputy Governor Engineer John Barorot on Monday Afternoon led the Citizens forum on City Public transport at the Town Hall.
Speaking during the event,The Deputy Governor emphasised on proper city transport plan to ensure smooth flow of transport and better services to the commuters within the City.
County Executive Committee Member fro Trade Engineer Martha Cheruto emphasised on safety of the traders. ” As part of the business community within our City, You should comply to both National and County regulations such as avoiding parking on the highways, having stages at petrol stations and not having proper safety Branding”. Said Eng.Cheruto
” We have plans to make Eldoret a modern African City,with modern transport Network including the Railway City, modern bus park, modern walkways that will accommodate all without discriminating the People leaving with disabilities,Modern traffic controls and pedestrian crossings,all these will attract more investors and boom our economy ” said Koiyet.
On her part,the Chief officer for trade and Cooperatives acknowledged the continuous population growth and the scarce resources that should be shared,” our city has grown over time,the plan that was drawn for this time town cannot accommodate the current population,the number of people is increasing while things like land remains the same,so we have to adjust and re-align our plans to meet the growth,” said the Chief Officer
Others present were the Chief Officer Devolution and Administration Mark Some,Manager Kenya Revenue Authority (Eldoret), Director Cooperatives, Director Revenue, Director Administration and other County officials.
Eldoret town has over 300,000 vehicles and 4000 are public service vehicles with a population of 475,716(KNBS 2019).
