DG Mamo B. Mamo Joins CS Aden Duale to Launch Bio Foods Company Sustainability Report
Director General Mamo B. Mamo EBS, alongside Cabinet Secretary for Environment and Forestry, Hon. Aden Duale, today launched the Bio Foods Company’s sustainability report, themed “Growing Responsibly, Feeding Sustainably.” The event, held at Bio Foods’ headquarters, underscored the company’s commitment to integrating environmental sustainability into its operations.
Speaking at the event, DG Mamo highlighted the importance of businesses and institutions adopting sustainable practices, emphasizing the need to focus on the “3Ps” – People, Planet, and Profit. He noted that Bio Foods’ sustainability report clearly demonstrated these values in action, showcasing the company’s efforts to reduce its ecological footprint while ensuring the well-being of local communities and stakeholders.
“Environmental sustainability is not just a buzzword; it is a call to action. By mainstreaming sustainability across all sectors, we can ensure that future generations inherit a planet that is both prosperous and healthy,” DG Mamo said. “Bio Foods is a prime example of how a company can thrive economically while prioritizing the health of the planet and the people it serves.”
The report highlighted the company’s initiatives in reducing carbon emissions, improving waste management practices, and promoting sustainable agriculture. The company’s efforts align with Kenya’s broader environmental goals, including the ambitious 15 Billion Tree Campaign, aimed at enhancing the country’s forest cover.
DG Mamo encouraged other businesses and institutions to actively engage in the tree-planting initiative as part of their sustainability efforts. “We must all contribute to ensuring Kenya meets its environmental targets, and tree planting is a simple yet effective way to make a tangible difference,” he said.
The event also saw CS Aden Duale commend Bio Foods for its leadership in promoting responsible business practices that align with Kenya’s environmental goals. He reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for sustainable development, encouraging more companies to follow Bio Foods’ example.
The launch of the sustainability report marks a significant milestone for Bio Foods as it continues to integrate sustainable practices into its core operations, demonstrating that environmental responsibility and business success can go hand-in-hand.
