Diaspora Movement in Uasin Gishu County has launched Peace Awareness Campaign meant to preach peach across the Country.
Speaking to the press led by their chairman Samson Wanjama Mugo popularly known as Samkiz said they will move from village to village preaching peace.
“As Diaspora Movement in Uasin Gishu today we have launched an awareness campaign where our main target is to ensure that all communities living in the County live harmoniously with one another before, during, and after the 2022 general elections. We will move from village to village, town to town preaching peace,” Samkiz said while speaking to the press.
According to Wakili Kimani Wanjohi, the Diaspora team comprises none Kalenjin communities living in Uasin Gishu who has vowed to preach peace.
“We will ensure that no one whatever will fight just because of politics and this will only be done if we will bring our people together speak in one voice of uniting the County. We want the forthcoming elections to be peaceful,” Wakili Kimani Wanjohi added.
The team which was branded in white caps and t-shirts say this signifies peace.
“In short we are branded with white caps and T-shirt’s this is to show peace since politics will come and go and we will continue with our business as usual. Let us avoid being used by politicians to divide them based on their political or tribal affiliations,” he said.
Andrew Ouma Sure says “We are preaching unity and peace, we want to talk spread the message of peace like bush fire to everywhere in the county. For now we are not talking about politics,” he said.
Kephas Ochieng says “we are focused to ensure that what transpired in 2007 will be a thing of the past which is only through preaching peace,”
