Speaking in Eldoret town during his campaign trail Ruto said this is because the opposition leader planned to stonning of his campaign vehicles.
“It’s unfortunate we cannot to Nyanza because Raila who pretends to be a democrat arranges violence, chaos for us to go there even me as deputy president because they stoned my vehicles I cannot go there,” said the deputy president.

He will be facing the opposition leader Raila Odinga who will be vying on the Azimio La Umoja Party ticket.
“Opposition leader Raila Odinga and his brigade were here yesterday and we allowed them to campaign peacefully, I tried to go to Kisumu but unfortunately my vehicle was stoned. We welcome Odinga in our county because we love peace and believe in democracy and we are ready to listen to every Kenyans,” said Ruto.
He said Odinga fears his supporters to be converted to UDA since they fear democracy.
“Even if we cannot go to Nyanza place, I want to assure the people of Nyanza that we will walk with you in our government and no Kenyans will be left behind,” he said.
He said the opposition leader did not show up for the debate since he does not have agenda.
“I waited for him in the debate but he did not show up because he does not have plans for the Country, I had waited for him in the debate he could have not gone scorch free because he has disturbed us for a long,” he added
