Respected and renowned businessman cum politician from Murang’a County Dr. Moses Mwangi has shared with us the latest happenings in the Kenyan political landscape and in particular the Limuru 3 Conference held last week.

Dr. Moses Mwangi, who shoots it straight without missing the Bull’s Eye, underscored the shrewd nature of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, whom he said acted wisely by being silent on what transpired prior to, during and after the said Limuru 3 gathering.

“Yes indeed our Deputy President is a very wise man. He chose to hold his horses and avoided speaking to matters Limuru 3 which is largely criticised the Kenya Kwanza government that he is a part of. The conference pointed out in not savoury terms, the oppression Kenyans were experienced with regard to oppressive taxation, high cost of living, poor representation of Mt Kenya region within Government and so on and so forth”.

That’s wisdom because it’s not good to appear to aline with your opponents, even if you could agree with them on some matters as DP Rigathi Gachagua does when it cones to the call for, ” one man, one vote, and shilling “. As the principal assistant to the president, the DP must be seen to support the president, in word and deed.

On the flipside, however, Dr. Moses welcomed the proponents of the Limuru 3 conference, citing their positive criticism as very healthy in regards to keeping the government on its toes and, most importantly, calling for accountability and good governance.

“I welcome this as an exercise of democracy. It’s important to underscore that as Mt. Kenya region, we must have options. One of the key benefits of the Limuru Three is to restore the voice of the region in spelling out what exactly we need to do as we look to the future. We must remember that some of the leaders elected through parties other than the UDA were silenced and can hardly stand their ground. Most of them have been dancing to the narrative of sycophancy that characterised the infamous KANU regime. The Limuru 3 is also a good indicator that multiparty democracy is still alive because if not checked, the UDA would wish to dominate and is on record calling for the folding of it’s affiliate parties to form one monolithic outfit. We cannot, must not and should not allow Kenya to slide back to the old days of single party dictatorship.

As we approach the 2027 general elections, the Mt Kenya region must fight to have options, and it’s important to have at least one strong party with roots in its backyard as parties have owners.
