There was drama in Kipkenyo, Kapseret constituency Uasin Gishu County after an elder was buried without a coffin.
Resident were left shocked not knowing what to do since they have never witnessed such a burial ceremony.
According to a close family member this follow his last will that he had written and had to be followed strictly.
“As the family of the deceased we followed the wishes of our departed brother, before he died he said we should not burry him in a coffin, there should be no preaching and no eulogy and this is what we have done,” said one of the family members.
He said the deceased had threatened them that if they do not follow his will they will face the consequences.
“We think that the deceased has been given a decent send off asper his wish and we did not want to go against it,” he added.
His neighbours were shocked by the happenings saying they had never seen such a thing.
“I have never seen anyone being buried without a coffin, funeral service preaching this is one of its kind ,” John Koech said.
“This is like a dream how can a elder of his calliber be buried without a coffin, we will never forget this day in many years to come,” mama Koech says.
