Eldoret Champions Market Should be Converted Into a Car Park
MCA Simat Kapseret Ward Moses Kebenei has proposed that the Eldoret Champions market should be brought and replaced with a massive car parking area.
Speaking to the press Kebenei said this will end the issue of the market being used by some people to get political mileage.
“If I was the governor I could have brought down the market and replaced it with an extra modern massive car parking which will be fitted with security lights and 24 hours security with immediate effect,” said the Simat Kapseret Ward MCA.
“Come 2027 people should talk about development and the act of politicians using marketplaces as political platforms instead of development should stop, and this calls for business people to flee congestion in town to villages,” added Kebenei.
This comes after the Uasin Gishu County government closed
the Eldoret Champions market
and announced the closure of the market following the unrest that was recently witnessed in the market.
Up to now, the market has not been opened.
The unrest saw the looting of the Eldomatt supermarket cookery during the operation of county officers to get rid of the bang bang operators.
However, the deputy governor, John Barorot, said the traders should go back to their designated areas of operation for the rightful traders to continue operating efficiently.
He further said that this will also remove congestion in Eldoret town which will soon be a City.
“If the market will be brought down this will reduce congestion in Eldoret town, especially at the market place which has been the order of the day. Business persons from the market should embrace change since
the space is too small and thus no space for expansion,” he said.
He urged residents to support governor Jonathan Bii’s administration on order to bring development as the time of politics is behind them.
