Henceforth, the exercise is expected to be done once every month, to help assist in arresting climate change that is adversely affecting the entire world.
“Once every month, we will have an event like this, where we will clean the compound, check on our trees, and where possible assist in arresting climate change,” said Mikoyan.
“We are targeting to plant over three thousand trees, within the court compound; this is to be achieved over a period of time. We are looking towards planting about 3 thousand trees here, but over a period of time,” said Mikoyan.
He said the exercise started slowly because of the current dry weather conditions being experienced.
“We will start slowly, and also because mindful of the weather, so hopefully as the rains come, we are going to do more of this exercise of planting trees,” said Mikoyan.
He emphasized the importance of the tree planting exercise saying, it was his pride as a Kenyan citizen to have a good environment and that additionally the exercise also helps in team building by bringing the judicial officers together as a team.
“Besides serving litigants with issues dealing with justice, we also meet as judicial officers, judges, and magistrates and have a moment or two, just to do this together,” said Mikoyan.
He is also optimistic about growth in the number of an organization participating in the tree planting exercise and that in the future they will continue to sensitize more people and organizations to join their cause.
“Starting off, we just picked ELDOWAS who are champions in terms of tree planting and conservation of nature within the area, but as we grow, it will grow, for today we just picked one partner to roll us off, I am sure we will be doing more of this,” said Mikoyan
