Eldoret: EACC Cracks Down on Dubious Land Deal
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has initiated an investigation into the alleged involvement of Deputy County Commissioner Charles Mbosiro Ingiha and his assistants, E.M Njue and Edna Gesare, in a dubious land deal potentially jeopardizing the rights of an elderly woman in Turbo Sub County, Uasin Gishu County.
Jane Muthoni Nganga raised concerns with the EACC North Rift Branch on March 15th, alleging a fraudulent land sale agreement dating back to November 22nd, 2014. According to documents obtained by Vipasho News, the transaction involved Eldoret Municipality Block 23 (King’ong’o), purportedly sold by Muthoni Nganga as the vendor to the Kenya Foundation of Prophetic Church, represented by Bishop Josephat Njuguna Gichuhi.
The agreement indicated the purchase of a 1/8-acre parcel for Ksh 700,000, with a partial cash payment of Ksh 300,000 and the remaining Ksh 400,000 settled on November 22nd, 2016. However, discrepancies arose as the church allegedly received a title deed for a 1/4-acre plot, contradicting the original 1/8-acre purchase.
In a troubling development, the family received a letter from Assistant Commissioner E.M Njue, offering two options: either extract a portion from the existing land for the church or sell the excess land to the church for Ksh 500,000. Later, on October 19th, Njue summoned Jane Muthoni and her children to a domestic dispute meeting, coercing them into signing the land sale agreement in the presence of Assistant Commissioner Edna Gesare. Subsequently, Joshua Mucunu Nganga was arrested on fabricated charges, while Virginia Wanjiku Kabiru went into hiding.
Assistant Commissioner Edna Gesare, in a letter dated March 6th, threatened non-diplomatic measures to ensure the remaining family members signed the agreement. Charles Rasugu, EACC North Rift Manager, has pledged a thorough investigation into potential abuse of office by government officers and the acquisition of the title deed by Bishop Gichuhi.
Turbo Deputy Commissioner Charles Ingiha and his associates exhibited hostility towards media inquiries on March 19th, hindering transparency in the matter. The Turbo Sub County has a history of land-related fraud cases implicating government officers.
The Kenya Foundation of Prophetic Church’s Bishop Gichuhi has been disavowed by the church leadership for misconduct, rendering him unauthorized to conduct any church-related transactions. Presiding Bishop Joel Musa Thuo of the church headquarters in Murang’a County has vowed legal support against Gichuhi.
HubzMedia has uncovered plans by Bishop Gichuhi to alter Jane Muthoni’s identity, raising further questions about his motives.

As investigations proceed, it is imperative for the EACC and other relevant agencies to ensure accountability and justice prevail in this troubling case of alleged corruption and abuse of power.
