Eldoret Firefighters Gear Up for City Status with Equipment Donation and Increased Resources
As Eldoret anticipates its elevation to city status, the Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii administration is ramping up service delivery across all departments, with a particular focus on public safety. On Tuesday, the fire department received a welcome boost in the form of essential equipment.
The African Fire Mission, working through the Chief Fire Officers Association, donated firefighting tunics to the department. This critical contribution will bolster Eldoret’s existing firefighting equipment and significantly enhance the response capabilities of its firefighters and rescue team. The additional tunics will ensure that more firefighters are properly outfitted to handle emergencies safely and effectively.
“We are unwavering in our commitment to strengthening disaster management and emergency response, especially when it comes to fire outbreaks,” declared Eng. Abraham Kiptalam, Chief Officer for Roads, Transport and Public Works. “Our vision is to equip all three fire stations in Eldoret town, Burnt Forest, and Maili Nne with sufficient firefighting equipment, including fire trucks and bowsers, to effectively address any fire or emergency situation.”
Uasin Gishu County Chief Fire Officer David Sitati echoed Kiptalam’s sentiments and expressed his deep appreciation for the donation. He also shed light on additional support anticipated from Eldoret’s partner cities in the United States, particularly Minneapolis. “This generous donation is a major step forward in improving the operational capacity of our firefighting team,” Sitati emphasized.
The influx of new equipment signifies Eldoret’s unwavering commitment to public safety as it gears up for its official designation as a city. The additional resources will ensure that Eldoret’s firefighters are well-equipped and prepared to handle any blaze or emergency that may arise, fostering a safer environment for all residents.
