Hundreds of athletes and residents of both Elgeyo Marakwet and Uasin Gishu stormed Eldoret Hospital Mortuary to pay their last respects to the World Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum.
They were led by Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii who sent his message of condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
“On behalf of the County Government of Uasin Gishu, residents, and my family want to send a message of condolences to the family and friends of the deceased May God give you strength during this hard time of mourning,” said Governor Bii.
He says Kiptum was an exemplary athlete who could shock many in the future.
“I want to call upon the Police to conduct thorough investigations for us to know what happened since the world is in shock,” Governor Bii added.
