Eldoret Kandie Secondary School marked a special day today as it embarked on a significant community outreach initiative.

Principal Mr Abalo Francis led the efforts to give back to the community that has consistently supported the school over the past three years.

The school organized a series of activities aimed at expressing gratitude and strengthening community ties. Different groups of students and staff were dispatched to various locations, including the chief’s office, Huruma Police Station, Mwenderi, an open field at Rural Estate, and Huruma Subcounty Hospital.

The volunteers engaged in cleaning these areas to show their appreciation for the community’s support.

Additionally, the school reached out to 25 vulnerable families from Huruma and Shauri slums, providing them with gift hampers and clothing. This gesture aimed to bring some joy to these families and reinforce the school’s commitment to community welfare.

Principal Abalo Francis expressed deep gratitude to the school administration, the Board of Management represented by Mr. Odinga Ojwang Rambo, students, and teachers for their participation.

He emphasized that such initiatives are rare but important, highlighting the role of schools in supporting the communities that contribute to their success. The Principal also acknowledged the local leadership and their role in helping the school achieve significant progress in reducing drug and substance abuse among students.

Mr. Odinga Ojwang Rambo, representing the Board of Management, praised the initiative and stressed the importance of giving back to the community.

He also highlighted the school’s need for a school bus, a resource that would enhance performance and support students more effectively. He called on community members and friends to assist in acquiring this essential asset.

Jennifer Rono, Senior Assistant Chief of Huruma Sub-location, lauded the school’s efforts, noting the positive impact of such initiatives on students and the community. She emphasized that these activities help students learn the value of helping others and sharing with those less fortunate. Rono also urged other schools to follow Eldoret Kandie Secondary School’s example.

This outreach event is envisioned as the beginning of an annual tradition, with plans to expand and enhance the initiative in the coming years. The school’s dedication to community service and collaboration with local authorities and residents exemplifies a strong commitment to social responsibility and community development.
