Construction of the Eldoret Multi Billion Bypass will be completed next year.
Speaking to the press in his office, Uasin Gishu County Commissioner Abdirisack Jaldesa said the 42 Kilometer project is 39 percent complete.
“I want to confirm that the construction of the Sh 6 billion Eldoret Southern bypass is going on well and as I am talking its 39 percent complete and we expect it to be completed next year,” said the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner.
The multi- billion project is funded by the African Development Bank and the Kenya Government.Jaldesa said once the project is complete it will decongest Eldoret town and to improve road transport.
The 42 kilometer bypass begins at Cheplaskei trading centre along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway and traverses through Kapseret and ends at Leseru on the Eldoret – Webuye/Eldoret – Kitale .
“We are working round the clock to ensure that the contractors on the ground finish the project on time without any further delays since everything is in order,” he added.
The Uasin Gishu County Commissioner further said that the remaining families which were affected by the project will soon be paid their compensation money.
“So far sh 1.4 billion has been disbursed to the the affected families and another sh 1.3 billion will be soon be disbursed by the National Land Commission. I want to call upon those who will paid to put the mk ey into good use purchasing another piece of land,” said Jaldesa.
