Uasin Gishu Muslims in Uasin Gishu on Friday demonstrated after the High Court in Eldoret revoked the nomination of Mama Sarah Abdi to the Uasin Gishu County Assembly.

Led by Sheik Mohamed Hussein Imam Jamia Mosque they termed the ruling as uncalled for and injustice to the Muslim Community.

“As Uasin Gishu Muslims we stood with the UDA party and advised Muslims to support you and in return, we were given one Nomination post at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly, it’s sad that Mama Sarah Abdi’s name and others have been removed,” he said.

“As Muslims, we are not happy and we urge President Ruto the UDA party leader, to consider us and the MCA that has been taken away from us be returned with immediate effect,” he added.

Kenya National Fatwa Council National Deputy Director, Sheikh Abubakar Bini called for immediate reinstatement of the MCA to the County Assembly.

“Why Should Mama Sarah Abdi be removed as nominated MCA when she has worked for the president for many years when he was an MP? Her nomination was not because of sympathy but because of the work she did and we demand her position back,” Bini said.

“As Muslims from Uasin Gishu we wanted 5 slots but we only got one, why take the only one position that was given, as Muslims we will not keep quiet until we get back our position,” he added.

Hussein Yator says “We urge President William Ruto to give us back the nomination seat to Mama Sarah Abdi in
which she fought and worked for,”

Abdikarir Solai Community –The court ruling was not good. We want in the next one week our nominated MCA seat to be brought back.

Mohamud Jama Chairman of the Somali Community in Uasin Gishu wondered why the nominated MCA was removed yet she was at the forefront of campaigning for the UDA Party.

“We are the minority and urge our abled president to save us from this mess,” he said.

Mohamed Haji Isaack chairman of Muslim Uasin Gishu County says “We endorsed the president and governor
Bii and we are saddened with his act, if you see a woman is not enough to give to another person as long as they represent the Muslims,”
