Eldoret: Parents Whose Children Failed to Travel Canada For Studies Want Their Money Back
A section of Uasin Gishu parents whose Children were supposed to study in Canada now wants their money back after their children failed to travel abroad.
They said it’s sad that despite paying for the program their children are still at home.
“My son was selected to join Thompson Rivers University in Canada where I paid Sh 950, from August last year nothing has been done only being given false promises,” said David Saina one of the Parents.
The 24 parents said they paid over 24 million shillings to the overseas account.
“We are suffering as parents, we are depressed when we see our children still at home and we have paid our monies, we have sold land, our assets vehicles, and all sellable items. What we want is our monies back,” they said.
“From reliable sources s we have been told that the money we paid has been used to pay for students who went to Finland with our overseas account money. I this fair,” another parent said.
They said they have deposit slips to show that they indeed paid the money.
“As parents, we, therefore, demand the County Government of Uasin Gishu to refund parents’ money immediately. We demand approximately Sh 24 million,” Amon Sawe.
They said they have engaged.
County officials severally but nothing was forthcoming.
“ I am suffering financially I sold my vehicle but unfortunately have lost my assets, I want my money to be refunded and forget all these problems.
Amon Sawe noted “I sold my piece of land and raised 950,000 and paid the amount as directed by County officials, but we don’t have admission letters, no process, my child is at home depressed. We want our money back with immediate effect,” he added
Mogoi Willy a parent “The last meeting we had with the officials the kind of response we received from the County official was not positive. since there has been no response and we want our money and we are not interested in the program,”
“My son was in the university and I told him to differ but up to now he has not joined. We want clear answers from the County,” he added.
