Eldoret: Police Net Ethanol Worth Sh 500,000


Police in Eldoret have netted 25,000 liters of Ethanol worth Sh 500,000.

Speaking to the press Uasin Gishu County Commander Benjamin Mwanthi said one suspect was arrested.
“Yesterday at ten at night our officers from DCI while on patrol came across a Toyota Fielder. After stopping it the driver ran away but our officers managed to arrest the suspect,” said the Uasin Gishu County Commander.

“After inspecting the vehicle our officers managed to get 40 jerricans of ethanol whose street value is sh 500,000,” he added.

He said the suspect will be presented in Court after investigations are over.

“I want to give a stern warning to those operating bars that they should only sell standardized liquor and second and generation alcohol which ethanol has been used in its preparations. Ethanol is harmful to your life don’t attempt using it,” he said

He says the vehicle was coming from Western Kenya direction and heading to Nakuru.

“I want to call residents to report any suspicious activity in their midst and we promise to take stern actions against them,” the Uasin Gishu County Police Boss said.
