Songoliet Village in Kapseret Constituency witnessed a joyous yet somber homecoming yesterday. Enos Kiplagat, who was abducted a week ago, returned home to the embrace of a relieved community. However, the ordeal has left a mark, and the villagers seek answers alongside their celebration.

Felistus Chelule, Enos’ grandmother, couldn’t contain her emotions. Tears streamed down her face as she described the moment she reconnected with her grandson. “One minute I was worried sick,” she said, “the next, Enos was calling me ‘Gogo.’ It was pure joy. I couldn’t help but sing and dance. Thank God he’s safe. He’s the light of our village.”

Enos, visibly shaken but resolute, expressed his appreciation for the unwavering support. “The outpouring of unity and prayers from my family and the villagers kept me going,” he shared. While hesitant to delve into the details of his harrowing experience, he acknowledged the ongoing investigation.

The kidnapping cast a dark cloud over Songoliet, prompting local human rights activist Kimutai Kirui to urge authorities to expedite their efforts. “The villagers deserve to know what transpired,” he declared. “A swift and thorough investigation by the DCI is crucial to bring those responsible to justice and ensure the safety of our community.”

Echoing Kirui’s concerns, family members like Peter Serem expressed their relief at Enos’ return, but the ordeal left them yearning for answers. “We’re beyond grateful to have him back,” Serem stated. “However, this isn’t over until we know who is behind this and why they targeted Enos.”

As Songoliet celebrates Enos’ safe return, a sense of unease lingers. The villagers hope a swift and comprehensive investigation will not only provide closure but also restore a sense of security to their community.
