Eldoret Residents Faults National Police Service for Transferring OCS Mike Lekalaile
A section of locals in Eldoret town has faulted the National Police Service for transferring the Eldoret Police Station OCS Mike Lekalaile.
Led by human rights activist Kimtai Kirui, the locals say Lekalaile has been serving locals diligently and should have remained in Eldoret.
“As Eldoret residents, we are not happy with the move by the police of transferring our abled OCS who has done miracles since he took over. Since he came to Eldoret cases of car theft, drugs, Phone theft have gone down, will not allow him to be transferred,” said Kimutai Kirui while speaking to the press.
He said the police have arrested those involved in the wash business which has been a menace in Eldoret town.
They called on the National police service not to transfer him since they need him more to bring sanity to Eldoret town.
“We are appealing to the National police service led by the inspector general of police to stop his transfer with immediate effect and should allow internal affairs to do their investigation so that before he is transferred he should have been given a fair hearing,” he added.
“Why is it that good officers are transferred while those who are not working overstay in the station for over 20 years, if his transferred will not be revoked we will do a mother of all demonstrations,” John Kirwa says.
“We are sad since Mike has been removed as Eldoret OCS why is it a good person transferred, we want to tell police not to affect his transfer since he has been standing with us and theft of bodaboda is a thing of the past and insecurity cases have also deteriorated,” Kipchumba Komen said.
