Eldoret: Shauri Residents Demonstrate Over Alleged Grabbed Market Land
Hundreds of Shauri residents Monday morning over the alleged grabbing of land meant for the Construction of a market.
They said that it was sad that eight individuals wanted to grab it for their personal use.
“This land was set for the construction of a market but, sadly, this morning some people were trying fencing it, This is uncalled for and we won’t allow public utility to be taken by a few self-centered individuals,” said Veronica Njeri.
They called on President William Ruto and his deputy Rigathi Gachagua to intervene.
“We cannot be going to Munyaka and Huruma markets yet we have our own, we are calling on President Wiliam Ruto, His Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, and our able Governor Jonathan Bii to intervene for us to sell and buy our goods here,” she said.
They called on the Judiciary to refrain from giving Court orders against public utilities.
“Which law are you following that allows one to steal public land? We will not allow some few individuals to steal our land
Gachagua should come to the ground and save us from this mess,” they said.
Mburu coordinator Shauri said“County should give a go-ahead for us to construct the market, Why are they using courts to grab our land, President Ruto kindly intervene,”
Joel Gachema notes “President Ruto when you came to the burial ceremony of our former deceased MCA Peter Chomba you promised to construct the market and yet it’s the same market that is being grabbed by eight people.
