The deputy speaker of the National Assembly Gladys Boss Shollei has dismissed Azimio’s letter to the International Criminal Court (ICC) which the opposition has asked for action to be taken against the state and the police.

Speaking in Burnt Forest, Sholei associated the opposition leader, Raila Odinga with the deaths witnessed during the past week’s demonstrations across various counties.

“Parents who lost their children during the demonstrations should ask Raila Odinga because he is responsible for that. The blood of those children is upon Odinga’s hands because if he did not cause demonstrations there would be no problem,” said Shollei.

She says the opposition opting for demos against bipartisan talks will not be the remedy for the challenges the country is facing.

“The cost of living cannot be solved by being on the streets but by fiscal policy interventions and fiscal prudence which already being done,” added Shollei.

Shollei has assured of the government’s firmness saying that instead of mere threats, the opposition should give another option to solve the current problems.

“Why has Raila not given us his own finance bill? He can produce his alternative finance bill and tell us, here is what I have written. So these are groundless threats, “lamented Shollei.

The Deputy Speaker also noted that the claims by the opposition on the conduct of the government do not reach the threshold of being determined at the ICC adding that the government has not done wrong to its citizens.

“It does not reach ICC threshold. ICC is for international crimes and usually it is when the state has turned against its population but for this, it was demonstrations by them,” claimed Shollei.

“I am surprised a mature person who has been the President is going to cry at the television. You cannot be complaining, you are a leader. What Uhuru Kenyatta was looking for is sympathy because he has realized he is becoming unpopular. So he wants to show he is tortured so that people can help him,” added the women rep.

This comes after the retired President Uhuru Kenyatta furiously asked the government to come after him and not his family following a police raid at his eldest son’s residence in Karen which the interior Cabinet Secretary ,Kithure Kindiki confirmed was an ongoing operation in search of illegally acquired firearms used during demonstrations.
