Eldoret Town to Become a City Under My Tenure-Governor Bii
The Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii now says Eldoret will become a City under his tenure.
Speaking to the press governor Bii said Eldoret town has what it takes to become a city.
“I want to promise Uasin Gishu residents that Eldoret town will be a city under my tenure. My administration will ensure that will meet all the standards of becoming a city.
He said he will ensure that there are no street children in Eldoret town
which has been the norm.
“I have embarked on the process of removing street children in Eldoret town since many people are using them as cash cows for their gains. As the current government I would not allow such to happen since this is the home of President William Samoei Ruto,” said Uasin Gishu governor.
He also said that he has established a committee to ensure the streets are cleared to ensure it is safe.
“Cases of insecurity in the Eldoret Central Business District will reduce since streets urchins are the main cause of insecurity in town,” governor Bii said.
Eldoret town which is famed for athletics and farming is also a strategic gateway to East Africa and a fast-growing economic hub, making it a unique town to be Kenya’s fifth city.
“I am also keen on environmental transformation to make Eldoret the cleanest city with structural accessibility for persons with disability and also to beautify the town so that it’s more attractive to visitors. We are keen to ensure that we make Eldoret a City by next year,” he said.
