In a heartwarming gesture aimed at supporting the hardworking traders of Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County Governor Jonathan Bii has granted them the opportunity to conduct business in the Central Business District (CBD) free of charge until January 3, 2025.

Governor Bii, in a statement released earlier today, emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding the resilience of local traders who have played a key role in driving the county’s economy throughout the year.

“We are extremely proud of the traders in Eldoret. Their dedication and hard work have contributed immensely to the economic growth of this region. As we celebrate this festive season, we want to offer them a special Christmas gift to help boost their businesses, especially after the challenges many have faced this year,” Governor Bii said.

The initiative will allow traders to set up their businesses in the CBD without having to pay the usual market fees or permits, providing them with an opportunity to maximize sales during the busy holiday period. The move is expected to not only stimulate local commerce but also attract more visitors to the town during the Christmas season.

Governor Bii expressed his hope that this gesture will bring about an uplifting impact on the local economy and encourage traders to continue offering high-quality products and services to the residents of Eldoret and beyond.

“This festive season, as we continue to work together in growing Uasin Gishu, let us embrace the spirit of collaboration and support one another. I urge our traders to make the most of this opportunity and provide excellent service to both locals and visitors alike,” he added.

The free business period in the CBD will run from December 22, 2024, to January 3, 2025. Traders are encouraged to set up their stalls and businesses in the designated areas within the CBD. Governor Bii’s initiative aligns with his administration’s ongoing commitment to fostering a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive business environment in Uasin Gishu County.

As Eldoret prepares for a bustling festive season, the people of Uasin Gishu can look forward to a more vibrant CBD with exciting business offerings, as local traders take full advantage of this unique opportunity.
