Elgeyo Marakwet ICRH Board members inaugurated

The Iten County Refferal hospital board has finally been inaugurated. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by H.E Governor Alex Tolgos today at the Iten hospital square.

The Governor was accompanied by the Ag. CEC for Health and Sanitation, Abraham Barsosio, Chief Officer Health and Administration Mary Kipchumba & Josephat Maiyo respectively, Medical Superintendent Benjamin Kimaile among other County Executive staff.

The new board members who were nominated by the Governor, included Naomi Chemutai Kurui, Salome Kisang, Charles Limo Chemursoi and Esther Kibor.

Other members still serving on the board are Dr. John Kibosia, Dr. Jeremiah Laktabai, Medical Superintendent Benjamin Kimaile,Dr. Elias Komen and Reuben Kiplagat who is the current chairman for the board.

Speaking during the event, the Governor congratulated the new board members for their appointment into the Board. He said that their appointment manifests the confidence the health sector has in them to steer the leadership of the facility.

“I am humbled that you accepted this call to serve the people of Elgeyo Marakwet. I will offer my full support for the remaining time of my term.” He said.

He added that despite the challenges the county is facing, the staff are always doing their best to improve the services.
He appreciated the presence of the Facility Improvement fund (FIF) Act that will help guide the board on what equipment should be acquired. He implored the board members to serve the institution with utmost dedication and faithfulness to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in executing the mandate of the board.
The new board members appreciated the Governor Tolgos for their respective appointments.

Speaking to the public Ms Naomi appreciated the Governor on the appointment. She acknowledged that they as a board are picking from a position that the previous was. That the opportunity to serve given to them will be felt by the hospital and the clients at large.

Dr. John Kibosia, a trained surgeon and who serves for the second term as a board member appreciated the appointment and acknowledged the tremendous changes that have happened since their entrance.
The board chair, Mr. Reuben Chesire appreciated the Governor for instilling trust in them in the first membership to proceed to the second term membership.

“We take pride in the achievements that have been made so far. There’s need to have a staff capacity building for continuity of team spirit.” He said.

He reported that in the first term they majored in facility projects and resources and this time they will be working on the staff welfare.

Dr Laktabai, also a second term member reiterated on the importance of upholding a clean environment to the access of staff and community at large.

Elias Komen who serves the second term Also appreciated the medical team for the good work they’ve been doing in their service. He said that they will work together with the new members to improve the working environment.

The new CEC Barososio echoed the words of the Governor and encouraged the staff to maintain and uphold excellence while on duty. He also promised utmost support to the new board and that he will be available to answer any queries that will arise.
