"Empowering Tomorrow: Hon. Lillian Siyoi Launches Affirmative Action Funds in Transnzoia"

In a bid to propel marginalized communities towards a brighter future, Hon. Lillian Siyoi Walubengo, Member of Parliament, spearheaded the official launch of the National Government Affirmative Action Funds Projects on May 31st, 2024. The event, held at NDURA SPORTS Complex opposite Skynest Hotel, marked a pivotal moment in Transnzoia’s journey towards inclusive development.

Hon. Siyoi’s dedication to uplifting marginalized groups echoed through the unveiling of several initiatives designed to catalyze change:

“We believe in recognizing every individual’s potential, regardless of their background or circumstances,” Hon. Siyoi stated passionately. “Through programs like the Recognition of Prior Learning initiative, we aim to provide opportunities for all to thrive.”

The Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) initiative, already in motion, seeks to validate skills acquired outside formal education systems. This acknowledgment not only enhances employability but also celebrates the diversity of learning pathways.

“Education is the cornerstone of progress,” emphasized Hon. Siyoi, announcing the Lillian Siyoi Scholarship. “By supporting exceptional students with financial aid, we are investing in the leaders of tomorrow.” With over 500 students already benefiting, the scholarship embodies the spirit of nurturing talent and fostering community engagement.

The launch also saw a commitment to youth empowerment, as carwash machine equipment was allocated to selected youth groups. “Entrepreneurship is key to economic independence,” Hon. Siyoi affirmed. “By equipping our youth with the tools they need, we’re sowing the seeds for sustainable growth.”

Furthermore, grant loans were earmarked for women groups, underlining the government’s commitment to gender equality and economic empowerment. “Women are the backbone of our society,” Hon.
