Engineers Board Launches Training Workshop for Graduate Engineers
The Engineers Board of Kenya kicked off a week-long training workshop aimed at empowering graduate engineers from various agencies, including KRB Kenya, KeRRA, CAA Kenya, KEBS, Kenya Ports, Nyandarua County Government, KIBHT, and Umakant International Limited. The workshop, which focuses on preparing professional examination reports, is designed to assist participants in their transition to becoming registered professional engineers.
During the official opening, Eng. Erastus Mwongera, the Chairman of the Engineers Board, outlined the Board’s strategic focus for the next five years. He emphasized key goals such as increasing the number of registered engineers, ensuring the safety and sustainability of engineering systems, building a competent workforce, and enhancing strategic collaborations across the sector.
Mwongera highlighted the critical role engineers play in the nation’s economic development, pointing out that the current number of registered engineers in Kenya is alarmingly below UNESCO’s recommended ratio. “This shortage not only affects our industries but also hinders our ability to meet national development goals,” he stated.
To combat this challenge, Mwongera called upon graduate engineers to embrace their professional journeys, take on greater responsibilities, and actively mentor new graduates entering the field. “By transitioning to professional status, you will not only advance your careers but also contribute significantly to the engineering profession and the economy at large,” he said.
The training workshop is expected to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare comprehensive examination reports, a crucial step in their professional development. The Engineers Board remains committed to fostering a strong and capable engineering workforce, ensuring that Kenya meets its infrastructural and development needs.
As the week progresses, the Board hopes to inspire a new generation of engineers who will lead the charge in transforming Kenya’s engineering landscape.
