Enhanced Infrastructure to Woo Investors- Governor Bii’s Administration
Governor Jonathan Bii’s administration has put in place several infrastructural measures aimed at attracting more investors including those in the manufacturing sector.
Some of the mega infrastructural projects include the improvement of roads, street lighting and connectivity of electricity to rural areas where a cement manufacturing factory has been set up in Mogoiwet village, Kamagut Ward in Turbo Sub County.
Speaking while inspecting the ongoing infrastructural projects in the area, Roads, Transport and Public Works CECM Eng. Joseph Lagat noted that the County is committed to supporting all investors in Uasin Gishu by improving the road network where they are setting up their factories for ease of movement of goods and services.
“The tracks which come to this factory are heavy, we are doing some excavation and then we will have to work on boulders for the structure. After that we will do murram and compacting of the road,” CECM Eng. Lagat said.
CECM Eng. Lagat said the road will also benefit the residents and thanked Cemtech Company management saying the move to set up the factory will spur economic growth and create employment for more than 10,000 youths.
He encouraged other investors to come to Uasin Gishu as the best destination for investment and assured them that the County Government is committed to ensuring they access water, security and lighting necessary for the businesses.
Cemtech Company Plant Manager Surya Raju Bhupathiraju said that everything is ready ahead of the rolling out of the companies operations next month noting that they intend to start by producing a capacity of 500 tonnes per day and will install more machines within a year to enable the plant produce 3000 tonnes of cement in a day.
He thanked the County Government under the leadership of H.E Governor Jonathan Bii for giving them a conducive environment to operate their cement manufacturing business.
One of the residents Mr. William Lelei lauded the investor for setting up the cement factory in the area saying it is a game changer that will improve the social and economic status of the residents.
