Enhancing Effective Implementation of Agricultural Programs

In a bid to enhance agricultural productivity and support farmers in Uasin Gishu County, the Department of Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livestock, and Fisheries in partnership with the National Agricultural Value Chain Development Project (NAVCDP) held a crucial meeting on Wednesday to introduce the supervisors to their roles.

The meeting, which was attended by key officials and stakeholders, aimed to streamline the Department’s operations and ensure the effective implementation of agricultural programs.

During the meeting, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of Agriculture, expressed his gratitude towards the extension officers for their commendable work during the recent distribution of fertilizers.

He acknowledged their efforts in reaching out to farmers and ensuring that the fertilizers were distributed efficiently.

However, the CECM emphasized the need for the department to perfect the registration process of farmers.

He urged the supervisors to work diligently in collecting accurate data, leaving no room for errors.

The CECM stressed that the success of the program heavily relies on accurate and up-to-date information about farmers in the county.

“This program is time-bound, and we cannot afford any delays or mistakes in the registration process. We must ensure that we have a comprehensive and accurate database of all our farmers to effectively serve their needs,” stated the CECM.

CECM Sawe, expressed his satisfaction with the progress made saying the “One Ward One Cooperative” model is beginning to take shape through this exercise.

He stated that the initiative will play a crucial role in enhancing agricultural development in the county.

This initiative aims to establish one cooperative in each ward, promoting collaboration and collective efforts in agricultural activities.

The supervisors were chosen based on their experience and expertise in the field. Additionally, 29 other supervisors were appointed to support the senior supervisors in their duties.
Uasin Gishu County NAVCDP project coordinator Mr. Cosmas Lang’at urged the supervisors to work collaboratively and support each other throughout the program.

He emphasized the importance of teamwork in achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
“We need to work as a cohesive unit to ensure the success of this program. Each supervisor has a crucial role to play, and by supporting one another, we can overcome any challenges that may arise,” said Mr. Lang’at.

Lang’at also emphasized the importance of professionalism and commitment in their roles, as they would be responsible for overseeing and managing various agricultural projects in their respective wards.

The supervisors expressed readiness to fulfill their responsibilities and contribute to the growth and development of the agricultural sector in Uasin Gishu County.

As the department moves forward with its agricultural programs, it is expected that the supervisors will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth implementation of initiatives and the provision of necessary support to farmers.

With accurate data and effective supervision, the County Government aims to enhance agricultural productivity and improve the livelihoods of farmers in Uasin Gishu County.

Emily Osena, a representative from the State Department of Agriculture, highlighted the tremendous opportunity that the selected supervisors have been given.

She emphasized that this is an opportunity for them to build their careers and contribute to the growth and development of the agricultural sector in Uasin Gishu County.

Emily encouraged the supervisors to approach their roles with dedication and passion, as they have the potential to make a significant impact on the agricultural landscape.
