Enhancing Road Connectivity in Uasin Gishu to Boost the Economy of Residents
The Department of Roads, Transport, and Public Works in Uasin Gishu County is keen on ensuring the speedy implementation of road projects to improve accessibility to business premises and public institutions.
Roads CECM Engineer Joseph Lagat is leading an inspection exercise of the ongoing projects across all wards to ensure quality and also checking on the progress of County machinery and looking into the welfare of truck drivers and plant operators undertaking the projects.
“Apart from opening new roads, we are constructing quality culverts and box culverts to enhance road connectivity in agricultural areas. The objective of the Governor is to help farmers access markets for their fresh produce as a way of empowering locals economically,” Eng Lagat said while inspecting the ongoing works along the Cheplaskei road in Chetiret Kipchamo ward.
Some of the completed projects include; Chembulet Centre roads where over 3km of roads within the Centre have been improved to improve accessibility to business premises and public institutions, grading and gravelling of Kap Engine Road in Moiben Ward and gravelling of Kotito Tuiyoluk and Kap Chagir road in Tembelio ward.
