In a remarkable display of community engagement and environmental stewardship, scholars from the Equity Foundation recently took part in a series of impactful activities at the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution, TENP.

Led by Junior Hardy, the National TVET Scholarship Program Coordinator at Equity Foundation, and Edmond Ainea, the North Rift Scholars Welfare and Mentorship Coordinator, the team of TENP-sponsored scholars embarked on a day-long initiative aimed at giving back to the community.

The day commenced with tree nursery activities, where the scholars actively participated in nurturing young saplings. Subsequently, they planted a total of 100 trees within the premises of TENP, contributing significantly to local environmental conservation efforts.

Later in the day, the scholars visited Langas Township, where they engaged with small business owners and entrepreneurs. During these interactions, they shared their personal experiences and provided insights on environmental conservation concepts, emphasizing the importance of sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

Mr. Hardy expressed gratitude to TENP for hosting the Equity scholars and commended their dedication to community service and environmental awareness. He also announced that another cohort of 30 students would be joining TENP under the Equity Foundation’s sponsorship this year, further reinforcing their commitment to supporting education and youth development.

The team received a warm welcome from the Chief Principal Charles Koech, who lauded the Equity Foundation for its ongoing support of underprivileged trainees and for instilling values of responsibility and civic duty among the scholars.

Koech said the initiative not only underscored the scholars’ proactive approach to environmental issues but also highlighted the positive impact of collaborative efforts between educational institutions and corporate entities in fostering community development and sustainability.
