The Eldoret Technical Training Institute (ETTI) recently celebrated its 10th graduation ceremony, a momentous occasion marking not just the success of the graduates, but also the institution’s dedication to providing high-quality, market-oriented technical education.

The event was a grand affair, attended by over 1200 graduates, their families, and key stakeholders, all gathered to celebrate the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance, and personal growth. As the institution continues to grow and develop, this ceremony stands as a testament to its success in shaping future professionals who are ready to contribute to the workforce and society at large.

The principal of ETTI, Dr. Boss Albert, took the stage as the keynote speaker, delivering a stirring address to the graduating class. He began by acknowledging the journey the students had taken from their early days at the institution to this momentous point in their lives. “You’ve worked hard, overcome challenges, and grown in ways you might not even realize yet,” Dr. Albert said. “As you look forward to receiving your diplomas and certificates, take a moment to reflect on your journey.”

Dr. Albert emphasized that, for many of the graduates, their journey began with uncertainty. Most had joined ETTI fresh from high school, unsure of what lay ahead. Now, after years of study, hard work, and hands-on experience, they were stepping into the world as professionals, equipped with valuable knowledge, technical skills, and a sense of responsibility that would serve them well in their careers. The transformation they had undergone was not just academic; it was personal, and the lessons they had learned would remain with them for a lifetime.

“The future is vast and full of opportunities, but it can also be unpredictable,” Dr. Albert continued. “Welcome this uncertainty. Let it fuel your curiosity and drive you to keep learning and growing.”

He encouraged the graduates to embrace the future with confidence, using the skills and knowledge they had acquired during their time at ETTI to build careers that were both fulfilling and impactful. Dr. Albert reminded them to reflect on the friendships they had forged, the lessons they had learned, and the memories they had created over the years. These would serve as the foundation as they built their futures and faced new challenges.

“Be kind to yourselves and to others,” Dr. Albert advised. “Celebrate your success, learn from your failures, and always believe in your ability to make a difference.”

Dr. Albert also took a moment to express his deep gratitude to the parents, guardians, and teachers who had supported the graduates along their academic journeys. “Your influence has played a key role in shaping these amazing individuals,” he said. “Your sacrifices, your guidance, and your unwavering belief in them have been instrumental in bringing them to this point. Your influence will continue to resonate in their lives as they move forward.”

He urged the graduates to consider the possibilities that lay ahead, especially in today’s rapidly evolving world. “Use the skills you have gained to employ yourselves,” he said. “Harness the power of technology to create your own opportunities. The world needs your innovation and your drive.” Dr. Albert called for more students to pursue technical education, emphasizing that institutions like ETTI equip individuals with the practical skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the workforce and become leaders in their fields.

The Deputy Principal in charge of administration, Engineer Kemboi Jackson, also addressed the graduates with an uplifting message of encouragement. He acknowledged the hard work and determination that had led the graduates to this moment and urged them to continue setting high goals for themselves. “Fly high and smash your goals,” Engineer Jackson urged. “Let the achievement of completing your graduation pave the path towards new destinations. The world is in need of your brilliance now.”

He continued, reminding the graduates that this achievement was not just a personal milestone but also a source of inspiration for everyone around them. “This is not just your success,” he said. “It’s a motivation for all of us to take on challenges, to strive for greatness, and to keep unlocking new opportunities and success.”

The role of ETTI in shaping the future of its students was further underscored by the words of Professor Simeon Mining, the Chief Guest from Moi University. He expressed his admiration for the institution’s commitment to providing high-quality, market-oriented education that prepares graduates for the demands of the modern world. “I applaud ETTI management for coming up with courses that are not only relevant but also in high demand in today’s job market,” Professor Mining said. “By providing this level of education, ETTI has positioned itself as one of the leading TVET institutions in the country. Graduates, I urge you to use this institution as a stepping stone to continue your education and your personal growth.”

In his address, Professor Mining emphasized the importance of lifelong learning. “Education does not end with graduation,” he said. “This is only the beginning. Continue to pursue knowledge, stay curious, and remain open to new experiences. The world is evolving, and so should you.”

The ceremony also featured a heartfelt speech from Dr. Edyson Nyale, the Uasin Gishu County Commissioner, who was another esteemed guest at the event. Dr. Nyale congratulated the graduates for reaching this important milestone and offered advice for their future endeavors. “I am proud of each of you for achieving this remarkable milestone,” he said. “My advice to you is simple: Use the skills you have learned here to become job creators, not job seekers. The world is full of opportunities, and it is your responsibility to take the skills you’ve acquired and build something new.”

Dr. Nyale highlighted the importance of self-reliance and innovation in today’s fast-changing world. “The tradition of seeking jobs is shifting,” he observed. “More and more people are becoming entrepreneurs, creating new businesses and industries. You have the potential to lead the way in this transformation. Use your technical knowledge and the creativity that lies within you to create jobs and contribute to the growth of our economy.”

As the ceremony concluded, the excitement in the air was palpable. The graduates, their families, and the faculty members who had supported them throughout their studies were all filled with pride and anticipation for what lay ahead. The 10th graduation ceremony was not just a celebration of academic achievement but also a call to action. The graduates were encouraged to take what they had learned and make a meaningful impact on the world.

As they stepped out into the future, the graduates of ETTI carried with them not only their diplomas and certificates but also the values of integrity, discipline, hard work, and honesty that had been instilled in them during their time at the institution. These values, along with the knowledge and skills they had acquired, would guide them through the inevitable challenges and successes that lay ahead.

This milestone is not just a reflection of the graduates’ hard work but also of the collective effort of the entire ETTI community. The institution’s impact extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the future of its students and the broader society. As ETTI celebrates its 10th graduation, it is clear that its influence will continue to resonate for many years to come. The future is bright for these graduates, and their contributions will help shape the world for generations to come.
