Finance CEC Tables Sh 9.8 Budget
Finance and Economic Planning County Executive, Micah Rogony, Ksh 9.8 billion budget.
This is Governor Jonathan Bii’s first budget since he took over as governor which has been aligned under his Nguzo Kumi manifesto.
He said the budget has taken into account the aspirations of the residents of the county to improve their living standards and enhance service delivery.
The county expects to receive Ksh 8.4 billion from the shareable equitable revenue from the National Government, and Ksh 1.2 billion from local revenue.
A further Ksh 278 million is expected to be from conditional grants.
The health department will get the lion’s share of the budget with a proposed allocation of Ksh 2.5 billion.
Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure, and Administration are other departments with the highest allocations.
Ksh 1.3 billion has been allocated to the Department of Agriculture, Ksh 1.2 billion (Education), and Ksh 1.9 billion for Roads, Clean Water, and ICT.
Rogony further said that Governor Bii administration has actualized the Revolving Fund Pharmacy; supply of drugs and commodities directly to facilities from KEMSA; fully equipped Reference Laboratory and Aflatoxin Testing Centre at Huruma Hospital; operationalized theatres at Kapteldon and Burnt Forest hospitals; and modernized and equipped isolation center. In addition, we have confirmed 1258 ECDE teachers, rolled out the school milk programme, and commissioned Moiben Sub-County Office.
“We have also disbursed KSh 68 Million and KSh 95 Million to 298 MSMEs under Inua Biashara and 47 Cooperative Societies under Cooperative Enterprise Development Fund respectively; established Disaster Preparedness and Response Team domiciled in the Governor’s Office; held Governors’ Cup volleyball tournament; distributed assorted high-value crop seedlings valued at KSh 13.7 Million; signed a contract with Soil Cares for soil testing; and constructed Kimoning grain storage for post-harvest management,” he said.
He said they have graded 800 Km and murram 450 Km of roads; and distributed 106 incubators and 696 Dorper sheep to women and farmer groups.
