First Lady Rachel Ruto hosts African First Ladies at State House For Dinner
First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto hosted all African First Ladies who are members of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) who are in the country for the launch of the #WeAreEqual campaign and the 14th anniversary of the Joyful Women Organisation at State House on the evening of 22 November.
The visiting African First Ladies were Monica Geingos, First Lady of the Republic of Namibia, and the President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, and Mrs Angeline Ndayishimiye, First Lady of the Republic of Burundi.
Rachel Ruto said she saw the possibility of a united continent as delegations from all countries came together and remained like brothers and sisters.
“When I see the representation of Africa by the delegation from Burundi, Ghana, Ethiopia, Mozambique, and Namibia, I see the possibility of a united continent,” said Rachel Ruto.
“In this diverse gathering, I see the richness of a continent and the potential for unity and progress,” she added.
Other guests in attendance included Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, wife of the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya; Tessy Mudavadi, wife of the Cabinet Secretary to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kenya and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs; and Anne Waiguru, Chairperson of the Council of Governors and Governor of Kirinyaga County.
