On Friday morning, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) welcomed H.E. First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto for an inspiring game drive at Nairobi National Park. Accompanied by Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Hon. Rebecca Miano and KWS Director General Dr. Erustus Kanga, the visit highlighted the importance of wildlife conservation and environmental stewardship.

The event was particularly special as it included the brilliant young winners of the inaugural First Lady Mazingira Awards. These pupils, honored at State House in Nairobi the previous day for their exceptional contributions to environmental conservation, were thrilled to explore the rich biodiversity of Kenya’s wildlife.

During the game drive, the children had the opportunity to witness various species in their natural habitat, fostering a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting the country’s natural heritage. The First Lady emphasized the critical role that young people play in advocating for and preserving the environment, urging them to continue their efforts in conservation.

“This experience not only showcases our wildlife but also instills a sense of responsibility in our youth,” said Mama Rachel Ruto. “It is our collective duty to safeguard the environment for future generations.”

The visit underscored the government’s commitment to promoting wildlife conservation and engaging the youth in environmental initiatives. As the participants shared their experiences, it became evident that such initiatives inspire the next generation of conservationists in Kenya.

The event concluded with a call to action for all citizens to actively participate in conservation efforts, ensuring that Kenya’s wildlife treasures are preserved for years to come.
