Former Speaker Pays Courtesy Call to Speaker Wetangula

In a notable and symbolic gesture of respect, the former Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt. Hon. Francis ole Kaparo, on Thursday morning paid a courtesy call to the office of the current Speaker of the House, the Rt. Hon. Moses Wetang’ula.

The visit did not only bridge the generational gap within the institution but also highlighted the importance of continuity and collaboration in Kenya’s legislative body.

Mr. Wetang’ula, warmly received Mr. Kaparo, acknowledging the immense contribution the latter rendered to the institution of Parliament during his tenure as the 5th Speaker of the National Assembly, spanning from 1993 to 2007.

Speaker Wetang’ula recognized Hon. Kaparo’s enduring legacy of leadership and wisdom during his tour of duty in Parliament.

“It’s an honor to welcome Francis ole Kaparo back to Parliament,” said Speaker Wetang’ula. “His time as Speaker was marked by remarkable statesmanship, and he played a pivotal role in shaping the legislative landscape of our country.” said Speaker Wetang’ula.

During their meeting, Speaker Wetang’ula reminisced about the privilege he had of working closely with Mr. Kaparo as a member of the Speaker’s panel during the 8th parliament.

“I tapped into his wisdom and leadership skills,” Wetang’ula noted, “and those experiences have significantly influenced my approach to the responsibilities of this office.” added Speaker Wetang’ula.
