Four Public Officers Arrested for Forgery of Academic Documents
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested four public officers for using fake academic certificates, as part of an ongoing crackdown on fraudulent credentials in Kenya. EACC spokesperson Eric Ngumbi confirmed the arrests, which occurred on Wednesday.
Among those arrested are Edna Bitange, an assistant elections officer at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, and Mark Chebitwey, who worked in the commission’s revenue allocation department. The other two arrested are Francis Mfundi from the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority and Brenda Sulungai, a community development officer at Nairobi Sewerage Company.
The four are set to face charges of forgery of academic certificates at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court today. This operation reflects the commission’s commitment to identifying and prosecuting public officers operating without legitimate qualifications, aiming to uphold integrity in public service.
