Garissa Governor Meets PS Energy
Garissa Governor Nathif Jama Adam met and interacted with the principal Secretary for energy Alex Wachira.
“I met the PS for Energy Mr. Alex Kamau Wachira and shared with him my concerns about their imminent plans to release Masinga Dam to the River Tana and the huge risk that poses on Garissa town and the other settlements along the river downstream. I impressed on him the fact that even as it is currently, Garissa is badly affected since the river has broken it’s banks and has washed away all the farms as well as big sections of the nearby villages. I made it clear to the PS that releasing the Dams would undoubtedly create a humanitarian crisis in Garissa and that they (as National Government) should simply be prepared to handle that unfortunate eventuality.”
