Gatonye wa Kimani Installed as Northrift Kikuyu Spokesperson
Gatonye wa Kimani has been installed as the Northrift Kikuyu council of elders spokesperson and chairman.
He takes over from the deceased Kamunu wa Kabari who died after a long illness.
Speaking after he was installed at an event that was witnessed by thousands of people, Kimani thanked elders for believing in his leadership promising to unite the Kikuyu community living in the Northrift region.
The ceremony was conducted by the Kikuyu council of elders national leaders.
Gatonye was endorsed by all Kikuyu leaders from all the sub-counties in the North Rift region.
“From the bottom of my heart I want to thank the Kikuyu council of elders for believing in my leadership and I promise that I will perform my duties independently, I will ensure that all communities live peacefully with one another,” said Kimani after he was installed.
Mzee Gatonye is now 85 years old.
“My aim as the Northrift Kikuyu council of elders chairperson and spokesperson is to ensure that we preach peace before, during, and after the 2022 general elections which are around the corner. We want to live peacefully with all communities living in the Northrift region,” he added.
The event was attended by Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki, deputy governor Daniel Chemno, Kessses MP Dr. Swarup MishraWakili Kimani Wanjohi, samkiz among other guests.
Buzeki congratulated Gatonye on his new wife position.
“I want to congratulate Kimani for being elected as Kikuyu living in the Northrift spokesperson, this is a good move since mzee is a straightforward leader and we all accord him all the support he needs, May God bless you,” he said.
“Congratulations mzee Kimani we believe in your leadership and we know you will take us to greater heights,” said Samkiz while congratulating the newly installed Kikuyu leader.
Kesses Constituency Legislator Dr. Swarup Mishra congratulated Kimani and called him to ensure that the communities living in Uasin Gishu coexist peacefully with one another.
Uasin Gishu deputy governor Daniel said the County Government will fully support the newly installed leader.
“On behalf of governor Jackson Mandago and Myself I want to congratulate mzee Gatonye, he is then the best person for the seat and I am sure that he will unite communities living in Uasin Gishu,” he said .
