Government Allocates Significant Funding to Healthcare in 2024/25 Budget: Dr. Moses Mwangi Applauds Move
In a recent interview, Dr. Moses Mwangi, a prominent figure in both the medical and business sectors in Murang’a, took a moment to share his insights on the newly tabled budget by the Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u. The budget, presented on the floor of the National Parliament, has garnered attention for its substantial allocations to the healthcare sector, signaling a strong commitment from the government of His Excellency, Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya, towards fostering a healthier nation.

Ksh 4.6 billion towards Specialized Medical Equipment and Stipend for Community Health Promoters
Ksh 2.0 billion for Free Maternity Health Care
Ksh 861.5 million for Medical Cover for the Elderly and Severely Disabled
Ksh 4.1 billion for the Primary Healthcare Fund
Ksh 2.0 billion for the Emergency, Chronic, and Critical Illness Fund
Ksh 28.7 billion for the Global Fund (HIV, Malaria)
Ksh 4.6 billion for procurement and distribution of Vaccines and Immunization Programme
Ksh 1.2 billion for Construction and Equipping Kenya Medical Training Colleges (KMTC)
Ksh 2.6 billion for Kenya National Hospital Burns and Paediatrics Centre
Of particular note to Dr. Moses was the allocation of Ksh 4.6 billion to fund vaccines and immunization programs, as well as the provision of a budget for cancer care institutes, the elderly, and people with disabilities. He commended the government for recognizing the importance of vaccines and immunizations, emphasizing their role not only in saving lives but also in reducing healthcare costs in the long term.
Dr. Moses reiterated the significance of providing support for the medical costs of elderly members of society, stating that it was a move long overdue.
