GOVERNMENT RESTRUCURING NOT AIMED AT VICTIMISING ANYONE, SAYS GOVERNOR OTUOMA
The ongoing restructuring of the County Government of Busia is not targeting any county officer but a move to ensure effective and efficient service delivery, Governor Paul Nyongesa Otuoma has emphasised.
Addressing suspended County Executive Committee Members (CECMs) and Chief Officers at the Busia Agricultural Training Centre, the Governor stressed that he has not sacked any officer as purported by a section of the media.
“The reason we are gathered here is to re-organise my government for smooth transition which is a routine check in governance. My pronouncement should not be blown out of proportion that I am on a sacking mission,” he specified.
As a follow up to Thursday directive, the governor instructed affected officers to hand over their responsibilities to their respective directors as follows.
Director David Mukabane will be in charge of the department of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, the Education and Vocational Training docket will be supervised by Mr Leonard Opollo, Finance, Economic Planning and ICT docket will be under Gibson Ojiambo Wafula while Public Service Management department will be handled by Robert Muganda.
Dr Melisa Lutomia will supervise activities in Health and Sanitation department, Water, Environment and Natural Resources (Dennis Chirande), Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (Oscar Odaba), Governorship (Timothy Odende), Culture, Youth, Sports and Social Services (Samson Khachina) while the Public Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Energy will be managed by Director Dan Oteba Opilio.
Meanwhile, Mr James Mwene takes over the leadership of Lands and Housing docket.
Earlier, the governor who met departmental heads urged them to cooperate with the four Task Force Chairpersons he appointed to spearhead the implementation of 100-Days Rapid Results Initiative (RRI) deliverables.
