Government Unveils Revised Pest Control Products Regulations to Safeguard Farmers and Consumers
In a significant step towards enhancing agricultural safety and integrity, Cabinet Secretary Dr. Andrew Mwihia Karanja of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, accompanied by officials from the ministry and representatives from the Pest Control Products Board (PCPB), presented the revised Pest Control Products Regulation 2024 to the Parliamentary Committee on Delegated Legislation on Monday. The committee, chaired by Gichugu MP Hon. Robert Gichimu Githinji, convened to review the regulations aimed at aligning them with established health standards.
This follow-up meeting is a crucial part of the regulatory review process, designed to promote good product practices within the pest control industry. The new regulations are set to protect Kenyan farmers and consumers from unscrupulous traders who may distribute harmful pest control products.
