Governor Barasa Hosts Raila at Kwisero Soccer Finals
Yesterday afternoon saw a vibrant gathering at Mulwanda Primary grounds in Khwisero Sub-County, as ODM Party Leader Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga and Kakamega Governor H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa graced the Khwisero NG-CDF soccer tournament finals hosted by MP Christopher Aseka Miradi.
The football fans warmly cheered their best players as St. Joseph FC played against Sungura FC in a match that saw Sungura bow out through a tactful 4-2 penalty shootout after both teams failed to score in normal time.
Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga commended the community’s presence, acknowledging the big turnout as a testament to their love for the sport and their leaders.
H.E FCPA Fernandes Barasa praised Hon. Aseka for his commitment towards youth empowerment through sports as the spotlight now shifts to the Governor’s Cup finals set for January 1, 2024 at Bukhungu International Stadium. The Governor extended an open invitation to Hon. Raila Odinga, the residents and all the sportsmen.
Earlier in the day, the Governor hosted Hon. Eugene Wamalwa at the finals of Hon. Boniface Osanga Super Cup tournament where Harambee United FC beat their rivals Munami FC 5-4 through penalty shootout at Bulimbo grounds in Matungu Sub-County.
Notable figures in Khwisero were Governor Emeritus H.E Wycliffe Oparanya, Vihiga Senator Hon. Godfrey Osotsi, Lugari MP Hon. Nabii Nabwera, MCAs, County Officers led by CEC Member for Agriculture Mr. Benjamin Andama and several sportsmen.
