Governor Bii Advancing Equitable Government For Prosperity
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has reiterated the commitment of his administration to implement development projects equitably across all 30 wards.
On Wednesday 6th, June 2023, Governor Bii launched a road improvement program in Huruma Ward, Turbo Sub County, where he assured residents that his administration is keen to improve the livelihoods of residents through infrastructure and other projects that will be implemented by his administration across the county.
“The road projects we have initiated will solve the problem of water flooding people’s homes in Huruma and other estates like Langas, Kimumu and Tairi Mbili. Proper drainage will help water find a good flow to the river without destroying property and causing havoc,” Governor Bii said while addressing a crowd at the Pilot area in Huruma estate.
The County boss emphasised that his objective for the massive road projects program that will benefit the entire county is to ensure people are living better lives and also business people are supported to prosper. He added that his administration will repair and install street lights in estates to enhance security and help increase hours of doing business by traders.
County Executive for Roads, Transport and Public Works, Eng Joseph Lagat, who accompanied the Governor said the launched project will include drainage works, street lighting and improvement of roads to ensure markets and hospitals are easily accessible for the residents.
“I want to thank the governor for equal distribution of ward development fund of 40 Million Shillings to all wards.”
“We have measures to ensure all estates are safe, we urged you to cooperate with us for the success of this project. We are going to work across all wards,” CECM Eng Lagat added, in statements corroborated by Sports and ICT, Executive, Eng Lucy Ng’endo.
Chief Officer for Roads, Eng Abraham Kiptalam, said the department will be deploying officers to ensure regular inspections to assure of quality.
The residents of Huruma Ward led by Haron Mwangi and Peter Mwaniki Mwangi thanked the Governor for initiating several development projects in their area saying that they don’t take it for granted. They pledged to support the administration to achieve its goals.
However, the residents asked the county government to ensure that pumps are erected on the improved roads to stop accidents caused by reckless motorists.
