North Rift Valley residents need to take lead in assisting fellow Kenyans battling starvation due to severe drought in over 23 counties across the country.

This was the message of Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Chelilim at Kaptebeng’wet Secondary School in Soy constituency during a prayer service for Form Four KCSE candidates.

“Our region is blessed with sufficient food and is even known as the bread basket of Kenya hence we need to offer solutions to this situation. As we pray for starving Kenyans let us also be a blessing to them by offering,” said the Governor.

North Rift region produces at least 11 million, 90kg bags of maize every harvest cycle.

“Let us selflessly contribute whatever we have at our disposal in order rescue our brothers and sisters in need,” he added.
