Governor Bii Roots For Free Care For Kenyans With Heart Problems

Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii has called for interventions to cushion persons with health complications such as heart conditions.

Speaking in Eldoret during the Mater Heart Run, Governor Bii said the government should consider giving free medical coverage to Kenyans with heart and related complications.

According to Governor Bii, the free medical cover will ease the financial burden for Kenyans with the conditions, and who have to undertake regular checks coming before and after surgeries.

Governor Bii also said his government is injecting an impetus into the health sector, in programs that will see facilities upgraded and modern machines installed. He says the modern equipment will be vital in the early detection of ailments and disorders to inform specialized treatment.

County Executive for Sports, Eng Lucy Ng’endo, advised Kenyans to use sports as a way to keep fit and keep at bay, especially lifestyle diseases. Chief Officer for Health, Dr. Paul Wangwe, was among the participants.

Multiple World Champions in 3000 meters steeplechase, Ezekiel Kemboi and former world 800 meters champion, Janeth Jepkosgei a.k.a Eldoret Express, also took part in the Saturday run.

The Mater Heart Run is a campaign that aims to raise funds for surgeries and general treatment for heart conditions.
