Governor Bii Signs MOU With REREC

Uasin Gishu governor Jonathan Bii signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with officials from the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).

The team was led by the CEO Dr. Rose Nkalama.

Bii says the desire for electricity connectivity within the communities is a fundamental aspiration of the great people of Uasin Gishu County.

“We are set to deploy 256 transformers through this collaboration, known as Stima Mashinani, with a focus on households and learning institutions,” said governor Bii .

“Our aim is to increase electricity connectivity in our county’s households from the current 65 percent to over 90 percent across all wards.

Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) CEO Dr. Rose Nkalama said the MOU will undertake electrification projects in the 6 Constituencies within the County.

“ REREC and the County Government have each committed Ksh.30M towards this cause,” she said.

In attendance were deputy, Eng. John Barorot, county officials and other energy sector officers.
