On Tuesday, Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii visited the Pioneer Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) Center in Kipkenyo Ward to celebrate the ongoing “Milk Hour” initiative and to showcase recent advancements in early childhood education.

The Governor’s visit marked a special Milk Hour, a weekly event that provides over 40,000 young learners across 673 ECDE centers in Uasin Gishu with nutritious milk every Tuesday and Thursday. The program, which has become a staple of early childhood education in the county, aims to support the health and well-being of the young students.

Accompanied by local officials and education administrators, Governor Bii took the opportunity to engage directly with the learners. He distributed milk to the children and joined them in their activities, expressing his enthusiasm for the program’s impact on their lives.

“It is incredibly rewarding to see the joy on the children’s faces as they enjoy their milk,” Governor Bii said. “This initiative is just one part of our broader commitment to ensuring that every child in Uasin Gishu has the best start in their educational journey.”

Governor Bii also took the occasion to highlight significant improvements in the working conditions for ECDE teachers. Under his leadership, the administration has made notable progress in providing essential instructional materials and creating a supportive work environment for educators. These efforts are part of a larger strategy aimed at enhancing the quality of early childhood education across the county.

“Supporting our teachers is crucial to the success of our educational programs,” Governor Bii remarked. “We are committed to making sure that they have the resources they need and a positive environment in which to teach.”

During the visit, the Governor engaged in discussions with teachers and administrators about future plans for the ECDE sector. He reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to continued investment in early childhood education as a cornerstone of the county’s development strategy.

The visit to the Pioneer ECDE Center not only celebrated the success of the Milk Hour program but also showcased the ongoing efforts to improve educational outcomes for young learners in Uasin Gishu County.

“Our work is far from finished, but today’s visit reaffirms our commitment to building a strong foundation for our children’s future,” Governor Bii concluded. “We will continue to invest in programs and initiatives that support both our learners and our educators.”
