Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii now wants president William Ruto to declare illicit brew a National disaster.
He says the sale and consumption of the illegal liquor has claimed many lives and families destroyed.
“I want to call upon you our President William Ruto to declare illicit brew a national disaster since Its negative effects continue to be felt across the country straight into the economy and on our social fabric,” said the Uasin Gishu governor.
Bii noted that Overcoming the menace will restore the country socially and economically.
The County governor has been in the forefront in the fight against the sale and consumption of illegal alcohol.
He has always raised the alarm over increased sale of poisonous illicit alcohol that he said has destroyed the lives of many people, especially youth.
His administration has been working with the police and other institutions to stop widescalesale of the alcohol in most parts of the county.
“The situation is so serious that we are now losing very many youth on daily basis as a result of consumption of the poisonous alcohol. We will also carry out outreach programs to inform residents of the dangers of threats Ilicit alcohol ,” Bii said.
