The congestion of trucks both at Malaba and Busia towns is a risk factor that needs to be addressed urgently.

This was revealed by Paul Nyongesa Otuoma, the Governor of Busia County when he got a courtesy call from the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Kenya, Henriette Geiger.

He said that it will take the effort of the county government, national government and partners to address the challenge being possed by the trucks.

“We urgently need to expand the five kilometres stretch from the border to Korinda inorder to decongest the road and also facilitate proper planning for Busia town,” he said.
Ambassador Geiger committed to partner with the county Government towards addressing the menace.
She also called upon all the Governors to work together to make sure devolution works because it will transform service delivery to Kenyans.

” It’s now easy to enter into an agreement with a county government, since I have visited Busia county, kindly rally all the governors especially when you have meetings at the Council of Governors and lets identify areas of partnerships,” she emphasized.

The Governor thanked the Ambassador and promised to work closely with EU and Trade Mark East Africa on expansion Busia border-Korinda road.
