Governor George Natembeya call for speedy completion of the Suam border post
Speaking during a tour of the on going construction works at Suam One border post,Natembeya called for the speedy completion of the project inorder to create and boost businesses in the region.
The Natembeya retarieted that the challenges facing the members of the business community a carry out there businesses at the border will be a thing of the past once the on going talks between the County government and the National government over the degazzettement of more 100 acres of land from the forest land for the construction of a trading centre are over.
“We already have 21 acres of land which is insuffient in housing so many traders. Negotiations are ongoing to get 100 acres of land to enable our traders get a conducive atmosphere to work from “, Governor Natwmbeya said
The Governor raised concern over the slow pace of the construction work of the project that was expected to be operationalised by end of 2021 .
The Natemebeya said the Suam border Post is critical towards expanding business opportunities for the local traders who had migrated to Uganda.
The completion of the Kitale- Suam – Kapchorwa Road, will help transform trading ties across the border and challenging the business community from the county to take advantage of his administration’s Sh.102 Million Nawiri fund to make investments.
“As a Government we are asking our people to come and take money from the Nawiri fund and do investments You will pay 3 percent unlike other financial institutions that are offering intrest rate of about 30 percent “, He said.
The Governor was accompanied by the County Secretary Madam Truphosa Amere, CECM’s Patrick Gacheru ( Water and Environment),( Bonface Wanyonyi ( Finance and Economic Planning) Dr. PepelaWanjala( Health)., Phanice Khatundi ( Agriculture), Chanelle Kittony ( Youths and Sports).
